Hey all,

Hope all is well back in sunny England.

I finished up in Byron Bay by going snorkling off Julian rocks. Was pretty good. There was loads of jellyfish (seemingly harmless, as I swam through loads) and big groupa and other fish. Saw a couple of Wobbegon’s (technically classed as sharks) a stingray and 2 turtles.

Then I left Byron for the cheesy glitz and lights of Surfers Paradise. A bit of a culture shock after being in Byron for a week. Surfers seems to be trying to be Vegas. Then it’s got the longest beach I’ve ever seen, but wasn’t the best as it was so windy that the sand gets blown in your face if you try to lie on the beach. Met up with a dutch dude and Sooth Aflican girl (who I met in Byron) the first night for a few drinks then met up with a Londoner dude (also met in Byron) for a few more drinks the following night.

Then I headed up to Brisbane with Tania (the South African). Not much here really. Altho the day we got here it was about 35degrees of pure sunshine. Had a walk around the city centre and botanical gardens before heading back to the hostel and chillin in/by the rooftop pool. Incredibly satisfying. How all tuesday afternoons should be. Then that evening we got treated to a nice sunset with an awesome thunderstorm at dusk. Sat watchin the fork lightning for about an hour from the roof, untill the rains came.
Then yesterday we went to Australia zoo. Was pretty good. The highlights were definitely the Tiger show (3 tigers running aroung playing with toys, jumping 15ft across into the water after said toys and pouncing on the dude playing with them), feeding the kangaroos (made me feel a little bad for eating skippy about a week ago) and obviously seeing the crocs, recognising a few of them from tv.

I’m off to Noosa today. Staying at a campsite type thing tonight, then start my 2 day canoe trip so will probably be out of contact for a few days.

Peace out

Jim
